Drawing night at work

One of the biggest perks where I work is that we have free drawing and sculpting sessions every Tuesday and Wed nights. The company provides the space, pays for the model and supplies the food. We truly are a spoiled bunch because of this.
This night's model was great. Makes me wish I made it to the gesture warm-ups since looking at the image above, I clearly needed to loosen up. These were 10 to 20 minute poses.

One armed man

A quick sketch done in mudbox. Don't exactly know why he's missing an arm.

Cobrafish color (Updated)

Just having some fun putting some color on an old model. I'm trying to slowly learn how to paint, so I am pushing myself to do at least 2 or three of these types of quick photoshop work a week. It's a work in progress, and I have a feeling it will forever remain that way.

Drawing Marathon

Today I attended the first drawing marathon of the year. It was held in Meritt College in Oakland, and boy what a great way to spend a huge chunk of your Sunday! You're in a room for 6 hours with at least 10 - 15 models doing poses that range from 1 minute to 2 hours. I highly suggest it to anyone in the Bay Area seriously looking for a productive way to spend a Sunday.
I pretty much stayed at the 1 minute pose section with a friend the entire time, so the images above are all a product of really quick gesture sketching.

Here are some images taken from my sketchbook.

Weeyatch (Ode to Meg Mucklebones)

Meg Mucklebones is one of my favorite old school 80's creature while growing up as a kid. She's only in a small segment in Ridley Scott's "Legend", but she clearly had a lot of impact on many monster geeks. While not exactly Meg, this doodle was clearly inspired by her in terms of the back hump and the silhouette of the face. Decided to give her pig-like feet for an arm in order to de-humanize her some more.

Green Giant

Well, I finally decided to create my own blog. I'm not really a guy who has a lot to say, but who knows, maybe I'll catch the blogging bug and decide to fill you guys in with the latest juice that goes on in the life of Gio...or maybe not.
Anyhoo, the image above shall be my first blog image. The news of a new Hulk movie got me all giddy so I felt compelled to create my own interpretation of the big green guy.
